zoeshaus Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 The documentation for osCommerce is pretty thin for someone like myself who is doing this for the first time. I guess what makes it harder is that I'm trying to follow the breadcrumbs that a previous developer left and I'm getting a little discouraged. In the control panel for the website there are images in five different folders: original, large, product, thumbnail, mini. I asked technical support about the images because it was puzzling to me. All of the images had exactly the same name but they were all sized differently. That made me feel that perhaps there were not five different different files for each image but they indicated that I had to size each image appropriately and upload each one of the different files. So I did that. I sized five images and uploaded them and placed them in the appropriate files. Having done that, I then went to the product and to the image tab for that product. There I could see the existing images for that product: original, large, product, thumbnail, mini. However from that point onward, I could figure out absolutely nothing about how to remove these images and select the new images for this product. I simply cannot find any documentation that tells me how to do it and there's nothing on that page that is intuitive to me as to how to accomplish this. The most frustrating thing about working with osCommerce is that there's really no detailed user guide that I can find. I'm not a total computer dummy but I need some directions to get me going in some of these areas and I just can't find any directions anywhere. Can someone give me some direction on how to proceed now that I have the images uploaded and I begged you, if there is a decent user guide out there, please tell me where to find it. Thanks.
♥geoffreywalton Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Sorry Alice you are pretty stuffed if you want a guide that covers all the add-ons that are out there. The basic documentation is pretty thin. I gathered together all the posts I found useful when I was learning about osc and put them in my profile. I suspect if you load one image for a product then when you first access that product images of several sizes are automatically created. If you want a new image just upload it and it should ten use that to generate new images. Without knowing which add-ons have been installed it is a bit difficult (UK English understatement for impossible) to tell you how it should work.
