stephaniejd Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Hi, There should be tax in only CA & NY, but every state gets taxed. Please help! I have looked at my other tips with no success. Thanks for your help. stephanie
NodsDorf Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Did you manually setup the tax rates? Look in Tax Zones It should only have 2 states / folders in it (California & New York) Then check tax classes. It should have 1 item (Taxable Goods) Lastly check Tax Rates It should have 2 listings, 1 for California and 1 for New York.
stephaniejd Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 Thank you so much for your help. I did that, and it is still adding tax on all orders. If you have any other ideas, I would appreciate it. I have lost sales because of this! Thank you.
stephaniejd Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 Anyone else have any ideas? I would hate to have to transfer everything to another shopping cart. Thanks!

zoeshaus Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I am also quite curious about the answer to this question. This is my second day working with the osCommerce cart and the one thing that I find really difficult is the documentation for using the cart is a little thin on details, at least for someone who is doing this for the first time. When I set up my products I specified that the products would be subject to tax because if someone from Wisconsin purchases our product they should be taxed. However, it's an interesting feature of the program that in the product set up when I put in my price for the product the next field shows that product plus the tax applied to the item. That seems sort of weird since in most cases tax would not be applied since most of our purchasers will probably not be from Wisconsin. However, I did follow your direction to look at the tax zones and, in fact, I have only one state listed there. Next, I went to tax classes and, indeed, I do have taxable goods selected there. However, and here's the problem that I have with osCommerce. I looked all through the menus for where the tax rates are created and I couldn't find them. I also looked through the knowledge base and couldn't find any place that described where I specify the tax rates. I am hoping that if I can get the tax rates set up, which in Wisconsin are done according to the county to which the product is being shipped, that my problem will go away. However, based on the original persons question I have some concerns about this. Could you please tell me where I specify the tax rates and if you have any specific information on directing me to a better user guide that someone may have published that would be really great too. Thanks.
takiko Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I also have the same issue. Even though I have removed the tax from shipping mod + tax rate... The total price still show with tax!?
