satkin2 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Hi, I've come across osCommerce when looking for a free solution to making an online store for my sister. We haven't currently registered a site as we're hoping to put this expense off until the last moment when it goes live. I've heard that you can use OS X as a dummy server for testing websites, giving the impression that your browsing online, whilst your actually not. I've never utilised that feature and am unsure on how to do it. If possible I'd like to play around with osCommerce and see if it does what I would like to do, it looks like it will from what I've seen. Is it possible to test osCommerce on this OS X offline testing environment, and if so, how would I go about setting this up? Thanks very much

The web is full with sites that can help you with that. For example: http://developer.apple.com/mac/articles/internet/phpeasyway.html http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/php_leopard.php Note: use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost when you set up osCommerce on your Mac though (issue with cookies).
