webby1 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Hello, I wondered if someone please could advise if this is normal? I downloaded a free template and installed on my site, however now I get tons of russian spam e-mails - which I never got before and it's really annoying. I had a quick look through index.html page source at my homepage and can't see any russian there, so just wondering if the template is dodgy or if this is well known issue with this company? Company link and location is at the bottom of my site. Please could you take a quick look? http://www dot equine internet supplies dot co uk (all one word in the domain name) Thanks in advance :)
germ Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 It's probably just a coincidence that the spamming started shortly after the new template was installed. You're probably going to have to install something like this to stop it. Be aware of two things: 1. Always make backups before making changes to files. 2. The contribution I linked to was written for "stock" osC. You have a template. You may need to alter the code to make it fit your template. I haven't tried the contribution I linked to. I provide it only as an example of something that will most likely fix your problem. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. MartinWann Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Don't download free templates from unchecked sources. I don't even want to follow your link cause it can be some spyware integrated in your template.
