Guest Posted March 1, 2003 Share Posted March 1, 2003 I am doing the setup of OSCommerce and I am receiving the following error message with I am doing the installation portion: New Install Step 1: Database Import A test connection made to the database was NOT successful. The error message returned is: Access denied for user: '[email protected]' (Using password: YES) Please click on the Back graphic to review your database server settings. If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company. Please advise I am configuring this on my home computer I setup a username and password in mysql 4 windows and have entered the username and password correctly. Guest Posted March 1, 2003 Share Posted March 1, 2003 Read your MySQL documentation and learn how to set the correct user permissions for your user.... normally your user is user@localhost when you are testing locally - why not just use root@localhost with no password?. You can also search these forums regarding your mail functions so that you do not get mail errors when testing things like account signup. There are a couple of packages that will install everything correctly for you when testing locally - I use Easyphp .... it works fine (except the mail - this has to be set up separately) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
