erikg
A while ago someone made a TEP module for PostNuke. Does anyone know how the status is regarding a osCommerce module for PostNuke?
Guest
you have to go to the postnuke forums for that stuff I believe
Jaguar
They are currently redoing their work to accomodate the ms1 release. The release that exists right now is based on a much earlier version of OSC. From what I understand from a few brief emails is that the existing version of their release should work but would need tweaks on the security and on shared login between postnuke and OSC. Loren The great thing about beating your head against the wall is that it feels SO GOOD when you stop!
forrie
I've done some searching of the forums - am new here, so still working the ropes. I'm wondering what the status is of OSC working properly (by properly, I mean with security issues resolved, etc) with PostNuke (latest release). Any pointers would be appreciated. loxly
there are many, many, many threads on this issue. As well as integrating with phpnuke and xoops and (insert name of cms here). Make your osc store look like your pn site. Use RSS contribution and text links to move between the two applications. Don't try and use one log in for now. For security issues the log in's should be kept separate. Have fun. If you want examples go to Google and search on oscommerce and *nuke and you will see a large number of sites that use the applications together in a variety of ways. By the way, since they are separate software programs and neither has an easy upgrade path, assuming that if they work together one day that they will continue to work together is a falacy :) They are separate, will stay separate and any attempts to integrate them will be a constant "work in progress". johnnyo
I've been confronted with some of these same issues on my own Postnuke & osCommerce site. As far as osCommerce as a module I can only say WHY. osCommerce is a "big time" application as Postnuke is. I don't even see how osCommerce would physically fit without loosing many of its great features, unless you want a page 4 miles wide, let alone additional sacrifices. Anyhow I think loxly (hoped I spelled right) said it best elsewhere in this topic. I got as far as using RSS links as suggested between 3 Postnukes and 4 osCommerces. In addition, we've modified the registration fields in Postnuke so all fields in the 4 osCommerce's are completed also, no need to add registration info at checkout. But to "login to osCommerce at the same time as Postnuke is a whole another story, I've added a osCommerce login box to Postnuke we will have the password and email automatically pulled from postnuke so a customer only has to press "login" after registration in postnuke, everything else has already been done for the customer. I think this is about the best that can be done "safely" with postnuke and oscommerce, but as I said before I can hardly spell PHP so there may be a better solution. I can post these modified files as soon as I know everything is working perfect, but I don't know how must good they will because I'm also automatically registering customers at Job Boards, Sub Contractor Boards and Classified Ad boards at the same time. forrie
I see your point. Being new to PN and osCommerce, I wasn't aware of the complexities. Perhaps I will need to look into another more basic solution. I'd be open to suggestions.
johnnyo
Look for "more basic solution" topic. I posted it in the wrong place.
forrie
Which area... I did a search, found one but it wasn't to do with this, I don't believe. Look for "more basic solution" topic. I posted it in the wrong place.
johnnyo
I made a mistake and must of hit "new topic" and of course it ended up elsewhere, again . As I was saying if you like Postnuke as I do and you want to use it with some type of store that is fully integrated with Postnuke then you might want to check out the Postkart module for Postnuke.723. It takes only a couple of minutes to install. Postkart is starting to come on strong although it's a very good module in my opinion there is still alot more to come. Thanks John
forrie
Yes, I have seen PostKart - the site doesn't have a lot of documentation, that I could find. I'm setting up a site that would use PayPal and perhaps other payment clearinghouses. I'm going to have developed some custom Modules to use that would integrate some ecommerce stuff with whatever "cart" program I happen to use. I didn't find anything on this postnuke-specific databridge that you mentioned. Thanks, Forrest I made a mistake and must of hit "new topic" and of course it ended up elsewhere, again . johnnyo
I've integrated Postnuke & osCommerce as standalones across 4 databases, 4 oscommerces and 3 postnukes, Now that I got this done, I can finish building these sites. I only had to modify one file in osc, gotta love it. Linda where are you !!! I really could use that wonderful download controller installed. http://automation.techrealms.com You do have to register to see the integration, please don't use the links on the rightside RSS osCommerce blocks. I have to make a change, was going to do it now, but I have a 11month old daughter and I would rather spend the day with my family. forrie
If you've successfully integrated osCommerce into PostNuke, it would be very helpful if you would post a summary about what is required, patches, etc. Thanks...
