benwiggy Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Hi, Just started trying to get the hang of OScommcerce. It's about the third e-commerce package I've tried. 1. Can I turn off the need for customers to log in? 2. I see that you can specify the weight of a product, but I can't see a way of using that to determine the shipping costs. Ideally, I want something that adds up the weight of the products, and charges a shipping rate that is in a band for that weight. Obviously, destination is a factor too. Apologies if these are often asked questioned. If so, please just point me to the relevant info. I've tried ZenCart, QuickCart, Cube or something, and they all seem to be ridiculously complicated with terrible UI and poor documentation. My current ISP provided their own system, which did all of the above very simply, but they are abandoning it. But I digress. Many thanks
♥geoffreywalton Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Try installing a purchase without an account contribution. Look in your shop admin, modules > Shipping. In there rates or shipping can both be set up to charge by wt by band. benwiggy Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 Thanks for the reply: However, not quite sure what you mean by "install a purchase without an account"...? Can you clarify this? As for shipping, I see that there is a Table module and a Zone module. I presume I'll need both of them to get Weight and Geographic area. I'll have to populate all the values by hand for Royal Mail, I suppose! Many thanks.
Guest Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Ben, There are several Royal Mail contributions available. Here are a couple to consider: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/272 http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/4030 This is the PWA (Purchase without account) contribution Geoffrey was speaking of: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/355 Chris
