UK site setup for VAT query

OK, I have setup my site with 4 tax rates:

Three for Europe wide sales;

Standard Rate (17.5%)

Exempt (o%)

Sanitary Products (5%)

and Rest of The World Exempt (o%)

 

Tax Classes are exempt, san pro and standard rate.

 

I have assignes two tax zones for Europe with all the European Countries in it and Rest of The World with all the remaining coutries in it.

 

Display products with taxes is enabled.

 

So, I thought I was ready to start adding products. My problem arises when I input the product prices. I do this with the price including VAT. I select txable goods. However, when I look on the website, my price has been increased by 17.5%. ie VAT is added twice. Does this mean I need to enter my prices ex VAT? If so, this would be annoying and time consuming. Far better to have the option "price includes VAT" and oscommerce to back calculate it. Does anyone use a wirk around or know of a contribution? I can't believe I've got to get my calculator out to do it for each product.

You need to enter price without VAT - it added at 17.5% for the EU - not removed for the rest of the world - or recaluclated it 17.5%-12.5% to give 5%.
