2 different Paypal accounts for one store?

Hi guys,

Need a bit of a help here. I'm trying to run a store with both my Paypal accounts - one personal and one premier. So what I want to do is to offer customers the choice to pay using either their Paypal balance (to my personal account) or using your credit cards (to my premier account). There is only one slot for the Paypal module, and I was wondering if I can just duplicate it and rename it. Or is there another way to go about doing this?

I also need to know if there is a hack to INCREASE the percentage price for the total if the customer selects to pay to my premier Paypal account. It's not very practical to use a discount for diff. payment mode hack because only the premier account needs the increase in price, because the prices I'm using are going to be all at the nearest dollar, and I want to make it clean and simple for those opting to not pay to my premier account, which is less frequently used.

Any help in this is much appreciated!

First, i think what you are talking about doing is going to do nothing except confuse your customer.

Second, I think you need to read your PayPal aggreement, it is against the rules and illegal in many places to add a surcharge for buying using a credit card.

Kim is right that you can't usually charge extra for credit cards. However, if you check your agreement you usually can give a discount for certain kinds of payments.

So set the overall price higher than give a discount for your personal paypal account. Caveat; check your agreement before implementing.

Okay - thanks for pointing that out - my bad. But it'll be alright if I give a discount for certain payment methods, right?

So how should I go about setting up this dual Paypal account thing? I've actually implemented something like this on my html store, but updating the store and customers is a real stressful thing to do (especially when I've got to update 30+ customers at once). I've used OSCommerce to run another store of mine, so I do have a bit of background using it.

I agree with Kim that you will end up confusing the customers. Also, what if you offer a discount for using a certain payment option, people figure out they are both PayPal and use a credit card on your personal account? You can chose not to accept the payment, but you will probably lose the sale by telling the customer they need to go to a different PayPal account at a different email address to finish their purchase.

Okay, I get what you guys are trying to say, but don't worry about me confusing the customers - in the present site I've drilled this in repeatedly, so I've not had a *single* case of mixed up payment so far. The Paypal payments always go where they need to go.

Perhaps someone would be so kind as to point me to the contributions for a percentage discount based on payment method, and also, a contribution to disable the need to create an account to login OR redirect customers directly to an account creation page? ^_^

Go through the contributions and you should find all three. It is very educational and fun going through the contributions list :)

Oops, I don't think there is one for discounts based on payment method. This is pretty much not encouraged.

Oh, I've been through the contributions several times, read the relevant threads and all, but would like to hear which ones people are recommending for me to use, since I'm going to tag them onto a live site.
