MrPhil Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 What!? Who is requiring you to display the "MRP" (manufacturer's [suggested] retail price? minimum required price?) in addition to your own (higher) price? Is this a legal or supplier mandate? Are you sure? In any retail establishment I've ever seen, the MSRP is higher, and the merchant makes a point of showing that they're actually charging a lower price. In some situations, e.g., cigarettes, some level of government may set a minimum price to sell it at -- you don't have to publish that price -- the authorities in charge of enforcing it will know it. You might emphasize that you're selling at "the lowest price allowed by law", if you were to sell at the MRP. If you're not absolutely required to display a lower price than what you're charging, don't do it. You'll lose lots of customers -- they'll simply go look for a site that actually charges the MRP (or at least, something closer to it). You may also be opening yourself up to legal action, as buyers will assume that they're going to pay the lower of the two prices, and file a complaint when they find you've charged them the higher. What's the point of displaying a lower price if you're not charging it? I think you've misunderstood something somewhere. Quote
