Mort-lemur Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Hi, I am running RC2.2a and have tried installing the recover cart sales mod - and badly broke my database twice using the supplied Sql! Does anyone support this contribution now? and is it compatible with Rc2.2a I also have other contributions installed that may affect the sql - one that springs to mind is the master password mod. Anyone fancy having a look at the sql and maybe updating the contribution if needed ? FIMBLE Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Hi Heather, What problems did you have with the SQL? Was it this add on http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/1688? Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
Mort-lemur Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Hi Nic, After I ran the SQL I lost the ability (as a customer) to log into my account, and for some reason it was a hell of a job to restore the database - had to resort to help from my host!. Yes that is the contribution you posted a link to. Thanks Now running on a fully modded, Mobile Friendly 2.3.4 Store with the Excellent MTS installed - See my profile for the mods installed ..... FIMBLE Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Hi Heather I just installed this to see if there were errros, it installed fine and works ok (vanilla osc2.2RC2A). Your site must have something else going on to cause a conflict with this add on. Did you get errors on install? NIc Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
Mort-lemur Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Hi Nic, After I ran the SQL (which ran without errors) I checked the site and found the problem - Ie I didn't complete the install by modding the php files. Maybe I should play with this on my Xampp set up for a while before trying it on my live store again - would the sql overwrite some elements of the database without showing errors? Thanks Now running on a fully modded, Mobile Friendly 2.3.4 Store with the Excellent MTS installed - See my profile for the mods installed ..... FIMBLE Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 The configuration group of 6501 (from the install SQL) is unique to this add on, nothing stock osC goes this high! Configuration group is not set so should take the next available number, so i do not see this conflicting with anything else installed, are you sure this problem did not exist before you added the SQL? If all you did was add SQL and no other files or file changes i do not see it. Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions

Mort-lemur Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 Hi Again Nic, Managed to install the latest version - and no errors on my site this time. However, when I try to email a test customer from the recovered carts option, the page refreshes but no email is sent. Did you try this function on your test install? Mort-lemur Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 One strange thing is I have the following : ----- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------- Across the top of the recover cart sales screen in admin tools, below my header logo but above the RCS tool itself. Mort-lemur Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 I have looked at the page source for the elements of sending the email and found the following : For the button: <input type="submit" value="Send E-mail" name="submit_button"> Then higher up on the page: <form action="/Admin/recover_cart_sales.php" method="post"></form> would this send an email? Mort-lemur Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 Ok, Found a post buried in the support thread : OK GOT IT! on or around line 157 of the /admin/recover_cart_Sales.php <?php $custid = $_POST['custid']; //<---ADD THIS // Are we doing an e-mail to some customers if (count($custid) > 0 ) { ?> All sorted now (I Think!) forummaker Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Thought I'd throw in a quick reply... I was going to add the contribution to my site... but I just hate having to fix, fix, try, try, error, error and so on with some mods (not saying this mod has any issues installing....) Just shortly after I found the recover abandoned cart sales cont... I had a customer abandoned their cart. Instead of adding the contribution... I did this. The next day I emailed them this... yes... the next day: (Customer Name), Thank you for stopping by (website) and considering us for your purchase. We noticed that during a visit to our store you placed items in your shopping cart, but did not complete the transaction. We are always interested in knowing what happened and if there was a reason that you decided not to purchase at this time. If you could be so kind as to let us know if you had any issues or concerns, we would appreciate it. We are asking for feedback from you and others as to how we can help make your experience at (website) better. PLEASE NOTE: If you believe you completed your purchase and are wondering why it was not delivered, this email is an indication that your order was NOT completed, and that you have NOT been charged! Please return to the store in order to complete your order. Again, thank you for your time and consideration in helping us improve the (website) website. Regards, (me) (website) (email address) The customer thought the transaction was complete and came back and completed the order! Worked great. Now, I don't get a lot of abandoned carts... so it's easy for me to shoot a quick email to the abandoned cart customer. Thanks for the original contribution for the email message. Thanks! Feel free to respond back. That "Can" you're about to open... has worms! Don't say I didn't worn ya. n. pl. cans of worms Informal - A source of unforeseen and troublesome complexity.
Mort-lemur Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 Hi, The above fix has sorted everything out so hopefully this will be my last question on this subject. The email that is sent is from my store email address which should be: My Site Name - however the address that is actually on the email is "my site nameoffice"@mysite.co.uk> which cannot be replied to. The line that sets this is in admin/recover_cart_sales.php and is as follows: tep_mail('', $outEmailAddr, EMAIL_TEXT_SUBJECT, $email, '', STORE_OWNER . EMAIL_FROM); how should I amend this for the email address to show correctly so customers can reply if they want. Mort-lemur Posted June 10, 2010 Author Posted June 10, 2010 Hi, Managed to sort it now, changed the above line to : tep_mail('', $outEmailAddr, EMAIL_TEXT_SUBJECT, $email, STORE_OWNER, STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS); and all is working as it should. Feel free to respond back. Hi, I now have it working great :-) I would suspect that you may have many more abandoned carts that you do not know about. The only ones I can see in my admin pages are the ones where the customer has actually confirmed the order then stopped at the payment pages (be it paypal, cheque, epdq or whatever). What is so good about this particular contribution is that it identifies carts where the customer has not even gone to checkout. ie. they have registered on your site, then added items to their cart, then left. As far as I know the only other way to do this is by a manual trawl of the database. So now it is up and running I will set up a weekly cron job to send the mails automatically - one less manual job to worry about.
