jonasgrumby Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Hi all, I have two questions... I see how to set up the Tax Zones w/ SHP: prefix to create Geo Zones. I created 5 zones with a bunch of US States in each plus one zone that has the state + county name & state + county abbreviation for two counties. This will be for free local delivery. My question is how are these zones referenced at checkout? Does the user have to type in either the name or abbreviation correctly and then OSC sees if that value matches any values in the table? Seems like on the user side the list of zones should be in a drop-down so people can choose the correct one and can't enter something that is incorrect/invalid. It's not going to be obvious to anyone that I have created the two local choices. Second is a basic PHPMyAdmin question. How do I insert the sql files into the database? Do I just select the database and go to the import tab? Is the Character set UTF-8? Do I need to specify a SQL compatibility mode? Does the INSTALL_v1.000.sql have to be imported before the geo_zones_sql files? Sorry for the newbie questions but I don't like to fool w/ the tables unless I'm sure I know what I'm doing. TIA for any advice Quote
jonasgrumby Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 Got it all sorted out. Thanks. I guess there's no way to mark a thread resolved on this forum... Quote
anpp Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Hi, How did you solved it out? I just installed the contribution, but I have the same question that you do about how the zones are refrenced? Everything works perfectly in admin, but when I make a test of the buying process, the shipping module is simply not working. I really would apreciate your help, Thanks! Quote
jonasgrumby Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 IMO it's sort of a flaw in OS Commerce, but the user has to enter it manually, which means that if you create a custom zone the end user needs to know the name or abbreviation and enter it (somehow, since it's not displayed anywhere). The zones should really be in a drop-down so that the user can't possibly get it wrong. Quote
