Where is cart total stored?

I have a problem in that the shopping cart contains no items but the total is not zero.


The reason for this is that we have separate products based upon the customers locale so that when a customer manually opts to swap locale his cart is emptied but the total cart value is NOT.


where is this and how can I reset this to zero?
