Emails from store (via default sendmail) stopped working!

We're using a pretty stock install of OSC 2.2. It's installed on our Linux based host and has been running fine. Recently the site stopped sending Emails (new customer, confirmation, etc.). I checked our settings and nothing has really changed. We're using the default sendmail built into OSC and our host does support it (it had been working fine). When the problem started we decided to change which Email address it was sending from (the first one was supposed to be for testing purposes anyway) but that didn't help.

 

We don't remember changing Email fields anywhere in the code, just in the Admin control panel but I guess it's possible somewhere could still have the old address.

 

Any thoughts or suggestions on how I can narrow down the problem?

I realize it's a vague problem. Is there some kind of PHP script that can check if the built in Email routine is running Ok? I read something about that in a forum post but I can't find anything in contributions.

 

I checked with my host and they said everything looks Ok on their end.

 

Any advice is very much appreciated!
