katman1971 Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Hi This is my first attempt at installing FCK editor and I am having some trouble. I downloaded the latest version from : : http://ckeditor.com. Version: ckeditor 3.3 I followed the instructions in the install file (see below). I checked the installation by checking the sample pages successfully. I then went to my admin area to add a new test product expecting to see the fck editor console.....but it's not there! I go to catalog > categories/products > New Product. Per the instructions there is no mention of an auto_installer. I also looked for an auto_installer file but didn't see one. Any ideas? Below are the install instructions I'm following: CKEditor Installation Guide What's CKEditor? CKEditor is a text editor to be used inside web pages. It's not a replacement for desktop text editors like Word or OpenOffice, but a component to be used as part of web applications and web sites. Installation Installing CKEditor is an easy task. Just follow these simple steps: 1. Download the latest version of the editor from our web site: http://ckeditor.com. You should have already completed this step, but be sure you have the very latest version. 2. Extract (decompress) the downloaded file into the root of your web site. Note: CKEditor is by default installed in the "ckeditor" folder. You can place the files in whichever you want though. Checking Your Installation The editor comes with a few sample pages that can be used to verify that installation proceeded properly. Take a look at the _samples directory. To test your installation, just call the following page at your web site: http://<your site>/<CKEditor installation path>/_samples/index.html For example: http://www.example.com/ckeditor/_samples/index.html Documentation The full editor documentation is available online at the following address: http://docs.cksource.com/ckeditor Quote
Jack_mcs Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 (edited) There are two problems: First: your post says you are trying to install the FCKEditor but you are downloading the CKEditor. You need to be sure which you want to use since the procedure is different between the two. Second: you can't install it into an oscommerce shop based on those instructions. Once you decide on which editor you want to use, go to the Add-ons section and search for it. Then download that package and follow the instructions in it. You can still use the latest version from the other site (and you should) but the other steps have to be done too.
