Tpaul Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Dear OSC forum, My problem started when I changed my domain name. Then I tried to install OS Commerce. Going through the installation directions I tried it both ways installing to the root and main domain. I had further problems so I asked my hosting provider to install the OSC program for me. They did. Now when I look back through the directory I am showing an admin folder and a catalog folder. I also have a Public_Html folder that list everything and under that I have a www. folder that list everything. I must be crazy for asking but is this right? Am I supposed to have 3 admin folders and 3 Inludes folders. If so, when I make changes, should I make changes to all admin and includes folders? Dazed & Confused..... Does anybody have a screen shot on how the folders should look on a correct install? Or should I just try and reinstall again after deleting everything? Could the current install be set up right? I can log on to my website and see the os commerce template and can configure from the www. .../admin with no problems.... is this something I should worry about? kindest Regards, Tpaul
Guest Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 When you view your directories using an FTP or file manager you will see what seems to be duplicate files in the public_html and www folders. However, the www is simply a mirror of the public_html. When you edit files, you should edit the public_html files. Within the Public_html folder you will see admin listed as one of the directories if your store is installed in the root. You will see the catalog folder if it is not. Chris

Chris Thanks for the clarification.. I only have the admin folder and the includes folder there.. do i have to update the includes folder when i update the admin folder? and is the pub_html folder the only folder i will edit not the mirror, will this automatically be updated. It seems i have been trying to install STS 4.6.1 for a week with failed results, due to trying to install everywhere but there. I think I will give it a go again in the public_html folder... Regards, Travis
