Does anyone know if I can use my latest database backup file to change to another osCommerce catalog? I am switching web hosts and I just want to know the easiest way to migrate all of my catalog items and information?

Thanks!

yes you can do that, upload it to your new admin / backups folder then go to database restore in admin and restore it.

If it a very large file then it might be better to do it via phpmyadmin, though you will need to empty the existing one first.

Hi Nic:

I also transferred a database from an older store I had to the new one I have created, but now I'm getting errors - lots of them - when I try to run some test purchases. I'm wondering whether it's because the older store used an older version of osCommerce (2.2-MS2) than this new one (2.2-RC2a) and I'm wondering what I can do to get around that. Also, I realise the php version is different - the older support phpmyadmin is 5.2.6 and the new one is 5.2.9. I'd appreciate some help,

thanks,

Nina

I am a newbie to osCommerce so please forgive me if this is an easy solution...

I am trying to create a new site from a previously created site and want to retain the customer, product, etc data. Is there a way to export the data from the current site and import it into the new/test site? I have done a backup and it looks as though the backup actually identifies the db so my thought is if I 'restore' the backup from the new site the restore will actually attempt to restore it to the original db and now the new db.

Again, sorry if this is confusing or an easy solution but I'm stumped at the moment.

Thank you for any information/assistance.

Bryan
