kelly236 Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 I'm moving some page content from another site to os-commerce and I notice that you can add all the HTML formatting right into the description box, my question is, Is it advisable to also include the header section of my pages in the description box? will that help me with seo in anyway? MrPhil Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Do you mean by "header section" the <head>...</head> material? No, not in the description box. The description box is in the <body> section of the page, and if you include <head> material, browsers will get upset. If you want specific page titles, meta keywords, and meta description tags, there are add-ons to help you do that. Do a search and look in the Add-Ons section. By the way, adding <meta> keywords will do very little for your SEO -- most browsers ignore those tags due to widespread abuse. A <meta> description tag won't help with SEO, but does give better text in the search results, so it's worth having.
