Setting permissions is best done from your hosts cPanel File Manager, if you have access to cPanel. Log into your cPanel, select File Manager, browse to your root catalog directory then to the includes directory. Check on the configure.php file and then select Change Permissions button at the top. Set to 777 Do the same for the configure.php file in your admin directory. Be sure and set them back to 644 or less when finished installing. AND, keep your site NOT accessible from the internet while you are doing this to prevent hacking. Once the install in complete apply all the necessary security patches to prevent hacking once you open up the site to the public. Community Bootstrap Edition, Edge Avoid the most asked question. Sorry if these are stupid questions. No question is stupid, especially if it prevent you from being hacked and therefore the rest of the world from getting spammed or scammed as a result... In your cPanel you have the ability to create a 'Directory Password.' Place a password on your main catalog directory and it will prevent anyone else but you (or anyone you give the username/password to) from accessing it while you work on it. Then, be sure and apply the security patches found in the Security Forum before you remove the password from teh main catalog directory. Then make sure your admin directory has been renamed and password protected. Community Bootstrap Edition, Edge Avoid the most asked question. See How to Secure My Site and How do I...?
