Two problems: shipping and tax

I am in the process of setting up a fair trade import business. This was not something I ever knew I would do, but having visited a factory in Sri Lanka while volunteering out there felt compelled to do what I could to help.

This has involved buying a load of stock whihc i am now trying to sell, ploughing the money back into more stock to support the community in question.

I have been trying to set up an online shop, which with no experience has been interesting, and I have been grateful to help from all sorts of people.

Frustratingly just as I think I am getting there, other problems (or old ones I thougt I had fixed) keep rearing their heads.

The only 2 things (I think) currently holiding me back from being able to operate are:

  1.
  2. Inconsistency around tax. Currently my products show with tax until anyone logs in (or even create a new account) then miraculously the cost of whatever is in my basket reduces for example from £12.50 to 10.64.
  3. Shipping/postage
Should be set up as a flat rate £4.50, with no charge on orders over £50 but this never appears and is not added on during the check out process.

My shop (only pointing at a pay pal sandbox) is My link

Any help/suggestions would be warmly appreciated.

Thanks

Joe

Joe,

Install a free shipping module like this one: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/146

1) I have no idea how or why you would do this.

2) In admin, modules, shipping set up your flat rate amount and the free shipping module you just installed.

Thanks Chris will have a look at that later.

I thought there was a shipping module included so I would not need a contribution.

I think the tax is now sorted. The mysterious thing is that the shipping did work a while ago, and somehow has now stopped. I must have inadvertently changed somehting cannot find what it is!

Cheers

Joe
