stClem Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Hi, is there posible to have to different stores with same db? If you go to www.shop.com/shop1 you come to SHOP1. The logo is SHOP1, the shop owner is SHOP1 etc. If you go to www.shop.com/shop2 you come to SHOP2, and the logo is SHOP2, shop owner etc is SHOP2. But the rest of the databse is the same. The customers can log in to both, and can shop from both. The items is same etc.

Collines Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 This is theoretically possible but not the best idea as search engines, in particular will penalize you as it will appear as though you have duplicate content on the web. Each store will call a copy of each page making it appear as though there are two pages that have identical content. You search engine rankings will not be good.for either store.
stClem Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 Yes you will just need to alter the two configure.php files to point to the two different shops but to the same database. But how is this posible, if the configure.php is changed the name etc of the store is same on both sites. As i can se the store name, store adress etc is in the db, configuration table. Ned in some way to change something there.
jaimejigga Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 yoursite/shop1 will have its own configure files in shop1/admin/includes and shop1/includes yoursite/shop2 will have its own configure files in shop2/admin/includes and shop2/includes They will both have the same db information for the configure files.
stClem Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 yes i know, but how can i change the name on the shop? The name of the shop is in the db, and then the configure wil get the name information from the db. And the name of shop1 and shop2 wil be the same.

You can't have different names with the method suggested, without extra coding, of course. There is the Multi-Store contribution that is for this purpose but, to be honest, you will probably be causing yourself more work than you hope to save.
