I'm loolking to start a site selling and renting movies, I also what to be able to allow for movie Downloads.

Does anyone here, have an idea where I could look, to get a License to allow the movie downloads?

I have searched the internet and have come up empty handed.

Thanks

THAT way... :'(

If ASCAP (and BMI) are only for music publishing, you might have to go to the studios that own the movies. I don't recall hearing about any central clearing house for movie distribution royalties, as there is for music (but maybe there is one). Each studio is going to have its own rules for distributing product, and I would suspect that many won't want to bother dealing with a small web startup (you). You might start with the AAMPAS and various industry organizations (especially those fighting digital piracy). They might have a better idea who to go to. Some smaller theater chains might be interested in joining up with you to get a Web presence -- it wouldn't hurt to ask (although the studios would still have to give permission). I would presume that the Big Boys already have something in the works for Web distribution (see Hulu). Distributors of small "independent" and "art" films (if not controlled by a big studio) might be interested in getting wider play for their films. Do you have a small independent theater or art house nearby? They may or may not want to associate with you (unless they feel you won't undercut them, and they could advertise on your site), but they might be a source of information. Good luck!
