warning messages.?have i been hacked?

I cannot log into my oscom site this is the message i get..

should i be worried or is it just server maintenance or something else..Im new to this so have no idea..

many thanks in advance for any help

 

 

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/divegalw/public_html/catalog/admin/includes/functions/database.php on line 19

This indicates the connection credentials in /admin/includes/configure.php are not correct.

 

The location of the db is wrong

 

Also check the user has permissions to connect to the db and the password is correct.

thank you for speedy response.

my site has worked perfectly up til now n no changes have been made by me.. i presume i am the user?and do you mean database when you say db?i am very new to all this as a friend set it up for me..

i cannot get in to check or change anything as as soon as i click on my bookmark it gives me the warning message?

You need to go and look at the contents of these files.

 

You can do this via your hosts control panel and the file manager in there.

 

The user is the name specified in the configuration file and you can see in phpmyadmin if they have permission to access the db.

 

Does the db exist? If it has been deleted is another possible reason.

I looked at my host site n my domain name needed to be updated and paid for.. feel so silly now like i just ran out of petrol in my car!!
