You never know if your web master is going to damage your web someday. Want to know is there a solution to protect web owner if web master go crazy? For example, web master wants more money but you disagree.

make regular backups of your files / database so if the worst does happen you can easily move hosts.

Also research your potential hosts on forums etc..

Check your backups against a clean copy of osCommerce and use a file compare program to look at all the changes/additions that have been made to your site. This will make it easier to find out what they have done and also to lock them out of it.

 

Make sure you give them passwords that you can easily remove if needed to lock them out of your web site.

 

Make sure you own your domain name and not them, never give anyone access to your domain name.

You might also want to install Site Monitor, then you can monitor which files are changed.

 

(Unless of course they are clever enough to circumvent it. Which if they are any good is not very difficult.)

Exactly what Chris said. So rather than find someone on the likes of "getafreelancer", hire someone from within this forum. But before you do that, have a look back thru their past posts to make sure that;

 

1. you can work with the way they are

2. they know their stuff

 

As an example, I just read a post from someone wbout to start selling oscommerce templates who is asking the most basic questions about oscommerce - that's the type of person to avoid in my opinion.
