jazzyrosez
I tried to log into the admin panel today and got the ACCESS DENIED. I did not have any problem any other day this week. The only thing I did this week is log on, back up the database, and log off. So, I have looked to see if any of the files have been modified. Nothing was touch except the back up for the database I did on Thursday. Which was the same bit size as the day before. I can log in the phpadmin but not the browser way into the GUI for the admin panel. Does any one have any ideas? I have not alot of time to spent on this problem today (spent all ready 2 hours) because I am working on another project database.
MrPhil
Is your admin panel (directory tree) password protected? Maybe someone changed the password, or added one? Have you asked your hosting service if they changed permissions to lock out access to that directory, because a hacker was in there running up CPU usage? Can you look at your directories and files via your hosting control panel's file manager, and see if permissions look different than other parts of your store (the catalog side)? Could your host have locked you out because you made an excessive number of connection requests during your backup and download, or burned too much CPU in the process? I check to see if the passwords were not change (same password). I check if the permission were changed (they were not). I check my bandwidth usage it not even 1%. I have the same amount of "crawler" accessing the information. I check my access logs and error logs for the last two days. (I did not see anything out of the normal.) I change my permission to allow all access and then try to log on.. The hosting service now has oscommerce as an add-on (go figure). I guess I could go back to the setting two days ago.Going to try that and let you know. And still no access.. I'll hunt again.

First thing to do is password protect the admin directory. osC passwords protection is not enough. Test it! Then, use phpMyAdmin and delete the entries in the administrator table in the database. Then when you access the admin panel it will ask you to create a new administrator login and password. Community Bootstrap Edition, Edge Avoid the most asked question. jazzyrosez
So, password protect the admin folder even with the admin folder being renamed. After Deleting the admin table from the database. Reset the admin username and password. I will try that . Any other suggestions?

jazzyrosez
Did not work. I'm trying everything.. Maybe in the hopes I will go DUH! Goodness.. This took all day! It still is not working like it used to but it works. I guess.. Now, when I log off the adminstration panel it gives me a 404 code Page Not Found. Would the hosting service having FTP problems be why all this is acting up now? I'm using an Unix platform not Windows. I have set the password protection and have it show a directory of the files to even log into the panel.
