cannot find glocal $cart in paypal_standard.php

I've sucessfully made all the alterations per the instruction up to this point. I'm now trying to alter the catalog/includes/modules/payment/paypal_standard.php file. The instructions say find "global $cart", but I cannot find that line anywhere in the included file. Has anyone else run into this problem? I ran a find and there is no instance of that line of code in this file. I've found "global $order;" around line 18. Is it possible there was a typo in the docs? Any help is appreciated as this is the biggest contribution I've attempted to install to date.
