I have found 2 good addons I would like to add to my osCommerce v2.2 RC2 site @ dreamdolldesigns.com but ... both want to upload to a catalog directory (which I can't find). One directory off my root is public_html (and there is also a www folder which looks to be a mirror).

Looking at the subdirectory structure I am guessing it might need to go here but unsure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I need to improve SEO & get a sitemap.

And, I have no robots.txt file ... at least one of these addons wants a mod to it ... any thoughts on a basic robots.txt file would be appreciated as well.

thanks,

ed

Hi,

By default OSC installs in public_html/catalog/

However, some people then move direct to the public_html directory thus doing away with the "catalog" sub-directory.

So basically if you dont have a "Catalog" directory read public_html for catalog.

A start for your robots.txt file would be

User-agent: *

Disallow: /personal/

Disallow: /includes/

Disallow: /cgi-bin/

Disallow: /admin/

But beware as some hackers use the robots.txt file to look for ways into your site - so make sure that you have ALL the security measures installed.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. What security on osCommerce? More addons?

thanks,

ed

Yes - Go the the security thread and the top post - by Spooks - How to Secure your site. That should take priority over ALL other work until your site is secure.

Thanks
