itzbilly
Hi, I am pretty new to OS Commerce but I have worked with Joomla before. The story: I had recently made a boo boo with OS Commerce while installing the add-on called "Discount Coupons," and had to re-install OS Commerce. I had no access to the original theme (installed by server Tech Support), so I had attempted to install a new theme completely. I had tried 2 different ways, trying to install OSC with the theme's files, and using Simple Theme System. Both ways had given me an error message that is either similar or spot on, to the following in bold: Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory. I have looked through the forums and searched on the internet and have tried editing the PHP.ini, the .htcaccess, the application_top.php files in both the /ADMIN/INCLUDES and /INCLUDES, and installing the Global Registers Patch add-on. All efforts left me with an error message similar to what is shown above in bold. The only disparity was one instance where it had told me there was an error with a line number xx. The problem with trying to fix this, however, was that it was a file which I am unable to access. The server is hosted on Hostway, if it helps. Please reply soon, thank you in advance! spooks
most hosts no longer allow you to enable register_globals due to the security risks that creates. You are attempting to intall old versions of osc, osC since 2.2rc1 does not require RG on. Get your templates based on at least rc1 or better, ignore any ealier, or install the 'real' version. I have OSC 2.2 RC2 installed. And I got things working with the Register_global, thanks to http://www.magic-seo-url.com/oscommerce/tips/running-oscommerce-with-register-globals-off.html. Thanks for the help though :)
itzbilly
I am, however, experiencing trouble logging into admin. Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tep_hide_session_id() (previously declared in /home/vg002web01/37/54/2005437/web/admin/includes/functions/html_output.php:297) in /home/vg002web01/37/54/2005437/web/admin/includes/functions/html_output.php on line 349 Any help on that? :\
