still Testing database connection problem

I've php5, apache2.2,mysql5.0.51a-community-nt on my XP system, and I test my website with the old oscommerce version(data already in the DB, I can check them with phpmyadmin), it works very well, then I start to install oscommerce-3.0a5, then input localhost, root, pwd, db name, then, u know, Testing database connection shows itself. I don't know what I can do to fix it. Does sb can help me? thx a lot.
