need help on customizing Main Page

Hy, i need some kind of modiffication for my main page and I could not find nothing clear. Please help. If this has been made, maybe a link to that discussion.

Now, if I select a category, above What's New For April I see links (and pictures) for selected category/subcategory.

I would like to NOT see that. Instead to see just New Products For April. So, the main page will change only when I can see products (in Product Listing).

I found This (Clik it !) , but doesn't fix my problem entirely. It removes subcategory images and links, but the page remains blank. No more New Products.

 

After I wil resolve this, I intend to put Featured Products (i had a try some days ago, but i messed things up and i postposed that)
