Add text to main page? It's a modified site.

Have been trying to work it out using trial and error, as I do with most modifications and am having no luck.

I need to place some information on the front page about my products as it is in a standard oscommerce site,

I've tried modifying includes/language/english as you normally would but of course this is a modified site and I'm

lost as to what to try next.

Darren,

You should still be able to add text to the index.php file located in the language folder.

define('TEXT_MAIN', 'Add your text here so it appears above the New Products on the index page. Make sure you do not remove the opening and closing apostrophe\'s');

Hi Chris, thank you for your reply I really appreciate it.

I did try what you suggested and had tried that before, and I always end up with an error message or it simply doesn't work.

I'm obviously doing something wrong, I've posted the contents of my includes/language/english/index.php file, which may be more helpful to help work out the problem I am having.

Hi Darren,

MAKE BACKUPS FIRST !!

In the catalog directory, locate the index.php file. On or about line 307 you should see this line:

But, you probably DO NOT. It is obvious that the line has been omitted or commented out because if it was there, you would see all that information that is posted in your last message.

So, if the line is NOT in the catalog>index.php file then you will need to add it. THEN, you can change the contents of the define TEXT_MAIN file in the language folder. When you edit the index.php (language directory) be sure to remove all the content as I assume it is not being used anyway.

I keep playing around with those two files, and can't seem to get it right, I'm really pushed for time to get this site finished.
