New in OS commerce

I have the need to create and design my new e-commerce web site, This is my first time that I´m involved in some e-commerce solution, so do you think anyone of you could tell me where to start?

 

maybe a tutorial, any link for beginners with OScommerce, I´m familiar with design of websites, html, dreamweaver, flash and a little of php and in general intermediate level of knowledge for web design, So

 

this is it, I would really appreciate your help.

 

and my final question is which is the difference between osCommerce Online Merchant v2.x and the v3.x? which is more solid and more friendly to implement???

Forget dreamweaver. Get you a good php editor and a good ftp client.

 

Version 3 is in beta stage and not yet ready for prime time.

 

Start with web space that you can protect while you install so that no one is able to interfere with your installation until you get it right. Installation is not difficult and simply following directions and paying attention to what you are doing will result in a clean install of a basic osCommerce shop.

 

Then start reading about security. There are a lot of security updates necessary, and some desired add-ons that will make life a little easier.

 

Once you get all the add ons installed you can open your shop up to the world and get some seo add-on that will start you on the way up the search ranking ladder.

So is a must to know php before start the ecommerce shop? and could you recommend me one php editor for mac osx?

 

and my final question: I can see that there is a manual in pdf with the download of the merchant v2, over there I could get all the info to begin???
