This message is caused when the connection to MySQL isn't working, normally because MySQL has crashed, if nothing in your sites configuration has changed then the only person who can help is one who has access to the server directly to restart MySQL.

Thanks Mark, I'm assuming that's my website creator. Nothing has changed with the configuration it just stopped working yesterday. Needless to say my website creator is out of the country til next week... I can't even get in to the admin pages to do anything.

Thanks for your reply Geoffrey, no I can't get in to the shop's admin I get the same message as when you try to access the website. I'll just ahve to keep tearing my hair out til the website creator comes back to South Africa

Does the creator also provide the hosting? If not try contacting the hosting company directly.

If they do supply the hosting and they can't be contacted then I would seriously suggest finding a new company to host the website who won't just vanish for a week.

Mark as far as I'm aware (& I know VERY little about website hosting etc) it says at the bottom of the page OS commerce & there's a link to your page in the admin pages. Does that mean you guys are my hosts?! His company name is WebSite Designs-can you help me gain access to the server?
