ultrandy Posted April 19, 2010 Share Posted April 19, 2010 Hello I have been trying to come up with a solution to my simple... yet frustrating problem!! Now I am much closer thanks to everyone's help! Basically is there a way on my product_info.php to display a product (in this case the choice between 2 frames) as basically a option!? I have tried master products, and I'm scared to try zappo's linked product as its so large and quite robust for my simple task!!! They thing here would be the checkbox... I read that zappo was working on a "products as options" mod Basically if I'm selling a photo I want a frame to go along with it. But the frame itself is a product!! multimixer Posted April 19, 2010 Share Posted April 19, 2010 A workaround would be to to have the frame like 2 times: 1st as a simple product (in category ie "frames") 2nd as an option for any picture, you can have also a preview image of the frames displayed using Zappo's option types v2 addon. multimixer Posted April 19, 2010 Share Posted April 19, 2010 No, this way will not show the frame as a separate product in your cart. It will be like an option of the main item, the picture. There was something like "products as options" under development, but I don't know anything about it's destiny.... Other options to move on would be something like a "custom product builder" or maybe master products. I also saw somewhere a implementation of "related products", that would be added to the cart together with main product when clicked. Any other ideas for items to look at? Basically its a recommendation engine I guess! all of my products basically are pics with such limited frame choices too! Personally I really like the suggestion George made to use "Zappo's option types v2 addon. You can see a similar example here". That's just awsome by the way George.
