how to get rid of the language url parameter

Hi all,

 

I am looking for a way to get rid of the language url parameters (?language=de, ?language=en, ?language=fr).

 

Instead I want to set up my site as if it runs with subdirectories per language, eg:

www.mysite.com/de/index.php

www.mysite.com/en/index.php

www.mysite.com/fr/index.php

 

Any suggestions on how to do this?

If you intend to set up 3 separate stores then I would suggest a landing page so customers can choose which store (language) to enter. In the stores, only have the selected language available but all should return to the landing page using the TOP breadcrumb just in case someone chooses the wrong language.
