some email working, some not

Hello all,

I have a strange issue that just started on my site. I can send an email from the admin side, as an update and that works fine. However, I am not getting emails when a customer orders, my customers are not getting orders and the contact us is not getting sent to me.

 

All of these things worked recently, but no longer do. I haven't changed any code that should have affected this. After the issue started, I switched to SMTP at the direction of my host, and that solved the issues so I could send from the admin, but the order confirm emails are still not going out. Can anyone tell me what to start looking at or another way to troubleshoot? Any help is appreciated; thanks,
