MVS with UPS and USPS for drop shippers

Hi,

 

I am going to be selling thing on my site via drop shipping from several different vendors. I have downloaded MVS and set up accounts and received all keys for UPS and USPS.

 

I'm not understanding something though:

When my customer submits an order, with lets say selecting UPS, does UPS debit my account right away ? (I know the merchant receives the monies for both product and shipping)

I ask because I will be providing my drop shippers with my UPS account so that they use it to send the products to my customers and if UPS debits my account right away, its like I'm paying double shipping. Or how does this work?

When your supplier prints the shipping label for the shipment your account will then be charged.

So my UPS account only gets charged when the supplier prints the shipping label, and not when someone places an order on my site?

Correct. Use the production server. Your account is only charged once a shipping label is printed.

what about usps?

I am already on the production server with them, but how do I get billed for my customer shipping orders? or do I not get billed, but just pay for them in person?

How do my vendors bill to my USPS account? Do I give them the same account info i entered in to oscommerce? or is there a separate account? how does this part work?

Neither bill your account until labels are printed. How that happens is between you and your shippers.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the typical way for a vendor to print labels? Do they use the USPS Shipping Assistant? Or is there another way of printing labels?

 

What about UPS? Do they have some kind of label printing program?

It really depends on the technology available to the vendor and the skill level of the personnel. Either can print directly off the internet using the account of the shop owner, and most will likely do it this way unless there are solutions available that a vendor can choose the store to bill to when printing the labels, and I do not think UPS or USPS provide this. It would have to be a custom program.
