steppo Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Hello! Anyone know if there are any advantages to do this? Is it possible? Best regards // Stefan Enjoy life! //Stefan
MrPhil Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Not really any advantages. The current code is not written in XHTML style (it would not cleanly validate). Some HTML tags are UPPER CASE, and tags that would have to be "self closing" (e.g., <br />) aren't. It can be done, but unless you're planning to do a major overhaul of osC, why bother? It certainly won't speed up your site, nor will it necessarily improve search rankings.

Alright well the reason to i am wondering is that i just started to set up a shop - with a phurphased template and if there should be any reason it would have been clever to do so from the beginning:) Are the only things you are mentioning whats differs then there are no reason to do it. Though i have not tested.. do a "clean" install validates green btw? //regards Enjoy life! //Stefan

Every contribution you add though will introduce more HTML and will most likely break your validation. So you have to keep checking all the time.

Ok i see - my intentions are just to try start in the right end with having an as clean and up to date site when it comes to validation as possible - in fact i would very much like to have it "tablefree" as well but my bought template most likely won´t work table free and i realize it is not the best idea ever to install it over an fresh install that is table free nor if it is possible at all or useful -i guess i can find that around the forum somewhere. Cheers and enjoy! //Stefan Enjoy life! //Stefan

Hello SA:) Thats great news!! I have already made that decision and after all it is not so many pages even if it is enough to keep you busy for a while:). Actually i checked it yesterday by W3C and it was almost home:) As the "never giving up to develop" i wonder... is there any at all disadvantages (except search engine) in having a shop with tables if you see it in lets say 3 years - i have googled but does it really matters? Say hi to SA and have a nice day! //Stefan Enjoy life! //Stefan
Hotclutch Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 In my opinion it does not matter...It's the content within the HTML that the spiders look for and will get your URLs to rank.
