Guest Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 After installation I'm getting a pink message: { Warning:I am able to write to the configuration file: D:\inetpub\vhosts\CHEZ-OLABI.COM\httpdocs\catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.} Is it possible to ignore this warning and continue with setting up my store? does it affect future aspects of the oscommerce?

Yes, while you are in configuration mode (mental, don't look for a setting) and you need the store to NOT be accessible from the internet while you are working on it. Eventually though, you will want all errors cleared and all security updates applied before you allow access to your store from the internet. Guest Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Must be a browser cache issue. I do not see the warning on your site. I asked friends in other countries to check the warning, they all assured it is there...! http://chez-olabi.com/catalog/
♥mdtaylorlrim Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I asked friends in other countries to check the warning, they all assured it is there...! http://chez-olabi.com/catalog/ Ok, my bad. I was looking at the store you have in the root, not the one in /catalog/ Look at the configure.php file in the root and compare it to the one you have in /catalog/ I think you will likely find a couple of minor differences. Pay particular attention to the slashes. Windows is sensitive to whether you use a forward slash or a back slash. Community Bootstrap Edition, Edge Avoid the most asked question. Guest Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I would be glad to hear a resolution. I have the same message on a mac setup This is my second post on this same problem, nobody is giving us any solution .... it seems that this matter is unsolvable..! Probably we'll have to change server and we'll also have to change oscommerce..!!!!!!!!!!

I was not referring to a configure.php file in the root directory, I was referring to the configure.php file that controls the root store, and you found it. Further, don't bother comparing the file size, etc. I was referring to the details IN the file. The format, syntax, and the actual data in the two files. There should only be one minor difference between the two. Anything else is likely to cause the symptoms that you described. The only real difference between the two will be the addition of the word 'catalog' in the paths in the configure.php located at /catalog/includes/configure.php Community Bootstrap Edition, Edge Avoid the most asked question. Try permissions in this order until the message disappears: 644 444 400 And most times FTP won't work. You have to use your Web hosts cPanel.
