johnnyosc
Hello, I have a very modified site base on the Nov 12, 2002 snapshots. My question is that I like the new MS1 checkout process, especially the edit sections on the 3 page of checkout. If I redid the code from the new MS1 to my old snapshot, would that work? Is it possible to edit the code like that since the layout is still similar. Please advise. thanks..
Guest
Hello J, I have the same problem, but maybe this will help. I started to modify the osc to add the new checkout process and I found it more difficult to modify then to just redue my changes. I DID have a later version of 2.2. I was very suprised that many of my changes that originally took hours / days/ weeks have gone very quickly. My cart has many changes in the shopping cart area that allow the customer to select options at that point and not the product info page. I also modified the listing to display all my pricing and multiple products. I am currently reduing my changes and in 3 days I accomplished more than i ever thought. Tarnadair
It's kind of a tossup, I guess, depending on how modified your site is. I didn't find the upgrades all that difficult but I had also remarked most of my changes and added contributions (or usually remember specific ones). A good copy of Araxis Merge or something similar helps a whole lot. I was able to merge something like 900 changes in not all that long. If you go with option you'll definetely need to look at the database changes that occurred since your snapshot in cvs. (oscommerce.sql) I was able to fix up the dbase without much problem too. Good luck! :)
Guest
Hi, I would say to reinstall osc and start working to redo your store. The stylesheet is nearly the same but the ms1 is very nice and it really won't take you that long once you start.
