I need help

I have installed osCommerce and have attempted to remove (change) the osCommerce logo to my own, I have tried the same with the banner and have attempted to edit the mainn page. I make the changes as described and it does not show up on my store. What am I doing wrong, it is so frustrating. I have attempted to download a template hopeing that would help in the setting up (or customizing) of the site and again have been unable to upload the catalog file. Can anyone walk me through in general simple terms or point me in the right direction.

 

If I do get a template will that make it easier to customize or do you still have to go in and make changes to the files or directories.

Purchased templates can be easier as far as the layout you want......but, make it harder to customize your store because more times than often the template creator has altered the OSC code to make their template functional. This limits how much you can do with your contribution choices.
