Hi, im quite new to this. I have made a functional website and need to add the shopping cart and account management system to it. I was wondering if its possible to simply add the features available on the stock website, onto my own? How would I go about doing that?

Paul,

You were better off to use OSC as your structure and build around it. Integrating the cart into your current site is usually only done by adding a link on your site to the cart. Once in the cart, customers rarely go back to the opening site but you can link to it if you wish.

osC pages are all php, if at any point a visitor navigates to a html page on the site its likely they will loose thier session, so shopping cart, account loggin etc. You should never mix php & html pages with this type of app.

Generally I feel this type of 'home page' is very old hat & just likely to anoy your visitors, especially as they are often very different to the cart pages. wink.gif

Well all my pages are in html, but saved as .php. is that good enough to run a php checkout system? i also downloaded and installed a module called STS, it seems to be what im looking for. im having trouble understanding what to do once iv instaled it. the whole thing seems to revolve around "templates". what exactly are templates? i dont understand the difference between a template and the pages of my site. theres an option in dreamweaver called 'save as template', is that the kind of template theyre talking about?

Paul,

STS has an extensive users guide. I suggest you read it carefully. It can be tricky at first but once you learn the basics of it, it gets easier.

No, you must include the neccessary functions to include the pages in the catalog on every page.

Basically modify osC pages to fit your site, not the orther way around.
