Email from Store quit working

After almost 3 years of working, my store has suddenly quit sending out order emails, new user emails, emails from admin, etc.

I did an upload of a backup catalog, but I'm not sure if all my updates to the store were included. Still no emails.

I installed the email_test.php and received the following errors:

Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 451 See http://pobox.com/~djb/docs/smtplf.html. in C:\hshome\mtims\matcopublishing.com\catalog\email_test.php on line 15

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:\hshome\mtims\matcopublishing.com\catalog\email_test.php on line 17

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:\hshome\mtims\matcopublishing.com\catalog\includes\functions\sessions.php on line 37

Warning: Unknown(): A session is active. You cannot change the session module's ini settings at this time. in Unknown on line 0

==============================================================

Pretty much the same errors as when I try to email from the admin

these are the config settings for E-mail Options

E-Mail Transport Method smtp

E-Mail Linefeeds CRLF

Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails false

Verify E-Mail Addresses Through DNS false

Send E-Mails true

SMTP Server Host Address smtp.mydomain.com

SMTP Server EHLO / HELO Name mail.mydomain.com

SMTP Server Port Number 25

SMTP Authentication Required false

SMTP Authentication Username

SMTP Authentication Password

My catalog is on a Windows Server and PHP Version 4.3.1 and osCommerce is 2.2-MS2

Like I said, email worked fine for over 2 years and I can't seem to debug the problem. Any thoughts?

Mate, if you are on a public hosting, then it's probally the smtp server where you are hosted, if you never touched anything or did any modifications, then the mail server is more than likely at fault. Ring up your support people, don't send an e-mail, the personal approach always seems better, that's of course if they have a phone number :'(

I really don't know if it was something I did or not. I couldn't get into my Admin so I went mucking around the hosts file manager deleting .htmaster file, recreating etc and who knows what. Right after that is when the emails quit. I finally got into my Admin but I don't know if I also caused the problem. In Windows I don't have a php.ini file and everything in php seems to be ok, but at this point I don't know where to start. Thanks for the thought anyway.

The only other thing I can think of is sometimes the server has an update, a patch or upgrade to a new version and as a result you need to be entered again into the permitted list. Servers have permitted and banned lists just like ordinary computers, so ask your host if they have had any upgrades lately.
