mckaylaleigh
I currently have a very outdated (V 1.2) and heavily modified site hosted on Network Solutions and I want to switch hosts to Go Daddy...can anyone tell me how much trouble this is going to cause me. If I need to, I will rebuild the site, but if it is easily transferred despite the outdated version and heavy modifications, I would of course like to go that route. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

MrPhil
Well.... your biggest concern is probably if your PHP and MySQL versions are going to go from 3 or 4 to 5 in one jump. A lot of code has changed between whenever 1.2 was and the current 2.2 RC2a, to accommodate PHP 5, including the turning off of register global variables and the loss of "long array names". And of course, a number of security and functional enhancements. There are further changes needed (not in 2.2 RC2a) for PHP 5.3's "deprecated functions" warnings and for MySQL version 5 (LEFT JOIN changes). By the way, are you really at 1.2? The file version number in a comment at the top of a file is not the osC version number. mckaylaleigh
I meant to update with the version but it wouldnt let me edit and than I forgot. I am not sure of the actual OSC version as CRE Loaded was used and that is: CRE Loaded6 v6.1. I am starting to think it will just be easier to redo the site! I didnt do the original site, so it makes me nervous to even mess with trying to transfer it!
