Tony G Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Hello everyone, If you where ever in my shoes and can't figue out how to install the osC, but now have been enlightened, maybe you are the one to help me  .Just wanted to get some advice on who would be my best bet for a web host that can help me install the osC ? Do any of the web host have the osC pre-installed when I sign up they can just install with a click? I watched a video on 1 hosts site and it looks like you need a web design degree to install osC allot of folder moving and renaming and configuring and I do not know whatthe hec they are doing? I just would like to be able to install the osC on my new site without having to hire a e commerce specialist? Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated.

Some hosts have a program called fantistco that installs oscommerce for you, but it might install an old version or add some extras you may not want (ie. buy safe). There are install directions with the download and they walk you through step by step with fairly clear instructions. Tim
Guest Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Tony, Many of the corporate sponsers on the top of this page offer OSC 'one-click' installations. However, you will want to make modifications to the site to make it your own so depending on your skill level, you may have a learning curve to go through or you may decide to hire someone to help. Tony G Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 Is it best to download osC myself and install it or install through domain host? If I could install it myself I could work on it before everyone sees it half done. Tony PS Does osC have a css editor to style the elements of the home page (header, vmenu, hmenu etc.)?
airbrushmaster Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Hi you can password protect the site so no one can see your shop until your ready
Guest Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Tony, No, OSC does not have a CSS editor built into the Admin GUI but there are design packs and templates available in the contribution area. As far as one click versus download and install. If you download and install, you know you are getting the latest version because as Tim said, many hosting providers are offering out-dated versions with the one click installs. Chris
