The e-commerce.

Is it possible to do this?

Hello.

I'd like to know is it possible to export data/information from an online Oscommerce site to be viewed offline (or in a desktop program)?

I'm thinking of the orders and order history in particular.

And then to delete this info from the online store and be able to update the offline file once a month or whenever one wants.

What are your opinions about this?

Actually I was thinking along the lines of a desktop Oscommerce,

so that I can just transfer the info I want from online to offline,

and then delete certain of the online info.

If I understand right - are you looking for a "mirror" store that is based solely on your desktop?

If so then use xampp and copy all your store files to the xampp setup. Then say once a month you can download your data into the xampp store (you would need further advice on how to do this).

I use a mirror site on an xampp setup to trial modifications to my site before I go "live" with them.

You will need to change your 2 (or 4) Configure.php files to set the correct server and database addresses.

Hope this helps.

Now running on a fully modded, Mobile Friendly 2.3.4 Store with the Excellent MTS installed - See my profile for the mods installed ..... So much thanks for all the help given along the way by forum members.

Hello,

You can export your data into csv file from the Apsona add-on.

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7225

Exports data records to CSV format. Available as an admin menu,

Also enables programs to authenticate to osCommerce and use the CSV download feature

(as if the osCommerce app were a CSV-based web service) without having to go through a browser.

You will need this add-on for using the Apsona service (http://apsona.com).

  • 2 months later...

You can also use PhPMyAdmin to do all of the above without using any more addons. PhpMyAdmin should be included in your php/mysql setup. I use that, and also wrote a 'back office' app in MS Access that allows me to do just about anything I want to do with the mysql data.
