I do a lot of online shopping, and the thing that bothers me most is the check out process of osCommerce! I feel that we may be losing customers because of this. What I'm talking about is; when a customer adds a product to their cart, it immediately wants them to sign in or start an account. I would like them to continue shopping or be able to view their cart items before having to sign in. I would also like them to see what their shipping total will be right away also. I know in my own experience of shopping, that is what I want to know right away and not waste my time filling out all of my information and then find that shipping is going to be too much. Are there any add-ons to change this order or what can I do?

In a stock osc when you add an item to the cart the shopping cart page is displayed. You can either click checkout or continue shopping.

 

In Admin-->Configuration you can select Display Cart After Adding Product and set it to false. This will redirect the customer to the same page where they added the product from.

 

Search the addons in shipping. There should be some addons like estimate shipping that might do what you want.

That's interesting because mine does not require you to have an account to add to your cart, just to checkout. And I don't remember doing anything to allow this to happen. Have you got any add ons installed that may affect the way it happens in your store?
