Invalid email address

I have a problem that I cannot see elsewhere on the forum.

When some people try to contact me through the contact form or register on the site they get an invalid email address response and the order won't go through (this doesn't happen to everyone). i have tried my own private email and that gets rejected too so I know it's a bonafide problem. i've looked through all the files I can find relating to email and can find no hints to the problem and I have turned DNS validation on but this makes no odds either. Any help would be much appreciated.

The site has been up and running for a while now using sts template but the email files as far as I know are standard as they come.

Sanitising code does'nt need to go in the e-mail files to have an effect, ie could be in app_top. DNS validation and an extra check (domain is valid & supports mail)

Do u have any examples of failing e-mails (alter so are'nt valid)

You could try looking at Sam's Anti-hacker Account Mods that sanitises all inputs but allows accordingly.

I still reckon its sanitising, the e-mail vaildation I use is the standard, just done after my sanitising.

Cheers for your help here, I have now tried the sanitising mod and unfortunately it was still the same. I got round the problem by reloading the oscommerce system and that did the trick. Only trouble is I don't know what caused it and it took a while wiping and replacing everything. I will reinstall your mod though and hopefully that will prevent a recurrence. Thanks again.

I´m not really an expert but I´ve heard that sometimes scandinavian letters in URL´s (letters like ä, ö, or å) means problems in e-mailing etc. But I guess your site has a non scandinavian URL...

  • 1 year later...

Hi!

I have the same problem, when trying to use the contact us option the email added in the email field is marked as invalid. I have no idea where to begin looking! Grateful for help!

/Paula
