Can I display my categories in the front page?

Hi everyone,

 

I'm new to oscommerce. I noticed the index.php file to change the front page calls on the new products module and displays the most recently added products. How do I change this so I can actually display the categories on the front page instead.

 

I've already got the categories showing on the left hand side as well.

Thanks for your quick reply. wow, found the categories addon a bit daunting. If I upload all the files (additively) will I lose all the work I've done so far, i.e. the colours and text and the category pane on the left?

Actually I did upload all the files, and a lot of the site changed. Is there an easier way to show the categories in the main page instead of new products only?
