Hi, I am new to this and just started to do my ecommerce store this weekend and I am getting this warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/sites/smileychops.co.uk/public_html/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

Please can anyone help and let me know what I need to change in this file? Thanks Ray.

You need access to your files. cPanel is the best option if your hosts provides it. FTP programs also have the function built in but often the host has chmod by ftpd turned off. Use your cPanel if you have one.

Unfortunately my host does not seem to supply a cPanel, there is PHP control but I think that's different , I can get into FTP files but that's about it? I have also looked at the file in oscommerce but did not know what to change in it, the username and password are the ones for the server?

How did you get the osC install files on your server?

OK I have control Panel and File manager but can't find the file that I need to change configure.php under includes file and when I do find it what should be changed within that file? Sorry I am new to this and learning as I go along.

It was loaded from a upload file button in control panel, I am hosting with eshop hosting if that helps?

You don't change anything IN in the file. You remove the write permissions ON the file. I don't use cPanel so cannot walk you through the steps.

You do need to browse your files with the file manager to find your public_html/includes/configure.php file.
